Neon Plato is an independent publication operated by one person in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. These terms govern your use of the website at neonplato.nexscapehub.com, the Neon Plato newsletter, and the Neon Plato YouTube channel. Using any of them means you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, do not use them.
What Neon Plato provides
Written essays on this website, a free email newsletter, and video essays published to the Neon Plato channel on YouTube. Everything is provided free of charge. Nothing here is a paid service, and no account is created for you.
The newsletter
Subscribing is opt-in and requires you to confirm your email address. Every issue carries a one-click unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing takes effect immediately. You may ask for your record to be deleted outright rather than merely unsubscribed by emailing nexscapehub@gmail.com. What is collected and how long it is kept is set out in the Privacy Policy.
Use of YouTube API Services
Neon Plato operates a private application that uses YouTube API Services to publish Neon Plato's own videos to Neon Plato's own YouTube channel. The application is not distributed, sold, or made available to anyone else, and it accesses no channel other than Neon Plato's.
By using the Neon Plato YouTube channel you are also agreeing to the YouTube Terms of Service. Google's handling of any information collected through YouTube is governed by the Google Privacy Policy, not by ours.
The application stores no data belonging to viewers, subscribers, or any other YouTube user. It holds one OAuth credential authorising it to upload to the Neon Plato channel, and nothing else. That authorisation can be revoked at any time from the Google security settings page, which immediately and permanently ends the application's access.
Intellectual property
The essays, scripts, narration, artwork and video on this site and channel are original work and remain the property of Neon Plato. You may quote from them with attribution and a link, share links freely, and use them for private study or teaching. You may not republish them in full, present them as your own, or feed them into a commercial product without written permission.
Quotations from other authors appear under fair dealing for the purposes of criticism, review and education, and remain the property of their respective rights holders.
Accuracy, and what this is not
Neon Plato writes about philosophy, cognitive science and the history of ideas. Every claim is sourced, but sources are summarised and summaries lose detail. Nothing published here is professional, medical, legal, or financial advice, and it should not be treated as a substitute for the primary literature it points at.
Errors are corrected in place, with the correction noted. If you find one, say so at nexscapehub@gmail.com.
No warranty, and limitation of liability
The website, newsletter and channel are provided as they are. No guarantee is made that they will be available without interruption, free of error, or fit for any particular purpose. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Neon Plato is not liable for any loss arising from your use of, or inability to use, any of them.
Third-party services
The newsletter is delivered by Kit, the site is hosted by Hostinger, and video is distributed by YouTube. Each operates under its own terms, which apply to you alongside these.
Changes, governing law, and contact
If these terms change, the date at the top changes with them. Continued use after a change means you accept the revised terms.
These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Alberta and the federal laws of Canada applicable there.
